Hola everyone,
We are taking a pass on Buenaventure Lodge in Ecuador (which would have involved traveling in the van for about 11 hours today) and we decided to stay here at the lovely Gran Hotel Chiclayo for 2 more nights to catch up on our rest and get everyone feeling 100%, so that we will enjoy the next 3 weeks of our vacation.
So, we will now go in the van to Urraca Lodge (otherwise known as Jorupe Lodge) in Ecuador on Thursday morning - all being well. This now is a much more reasonable plan as we will depart after breakfast on Thursday and be at the lodge for lunch. Ramiro says that we could be delayed at the border crossing at Macara, Ecuador for up to 2 hours as both Peru and Ecuador fiddle with their paperwork for the van's passing from one country to the next. The crossing of people is no problem, but the vehicle seems to complicate things. The border people will check and recheck all the registrations, etc. for the van and thus the delay.
We are all happy to sleep in and enjoy the lovely pool here as it is very hot and humid.
