Welcome! We are leaving Calgary on Monday Jan.17th at 1:10 p.m. on Continental Airlines and are staying 1 night in Houston before departing for Lima, Peru on Tuesday Jan. 18th - which happens to be my birthday. We are staying at a Country Inn & Suites in Humble TX near the Houston airport and hope to go to Pappa's restaurant for some seafood at dinnertime.
On Tuesday, we leave Houston at 3:30 p.m. and don't arrive in Lima until 11.30 p.m. where the Best Western hotel is sending a shuttle to the airport for us. The Best Western is located in Miraflores in central Lima and we hope to go to a lovely restaurant we had a great meal at in 2009 on Wednesday Jan.19 at lunchtime at Larcomar shopping center. This restaurant overlooks the Pacific ocean and we can watch the surfers. Then we need to return to the Lima airport in plenty of time to catch our next flight which is to Trujillo in Northern Peru (on the Pacific coast) at 6 p.m. Ramiro Yabar, our birdguide, will meet us at the airport in Trujillo. The night will be spent at the hotel El Brujo and the following morning we will meet Marie & Russ and David at the Trujillo airport at 6:30 a.m. and then our adventure in the van will begin.
I am hoping for an internet connection periodically along the way and will update this blog when I can and hopefully add in a few pictures.
